What can I expect during the first visit?
Thank you for considering Brilliant Smiles for your family's Pediatric Dental Home. The first visit is designed to introduce your family to our practice and get a full medical, dental, and overall health history for your child. Dr. Webb will do a complete oral exam and x-rays if needed to provide you with a customized prevention plan and treatment approach.
Do I stay with my child during their visit?
We know little ones are often nervous about coming to the dentist. This is why we always invite parents to accompany their child to both the hygiene and treatment areas.
Dental Insurance
Brillint Smiles accepts most major dental insurance PPO plans and we are happy to submit the insurance claim for you. Please be advised that no dental insurance plan pays 100% of dental costs.
If we are provided with your most up to date and complete insurance information, our office will help you understand your plan if you have questions about your coverage. All co-pays and insurance deductibles are expected at the time of service.
Preparing Your Child
You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and fun! Our staff is highly trained to meet the needs of your child. You can start at home by explaining to your child in an enthusiastic manner that he or she has an appointment with the dentist.
Here are some common terms you should avoid: “needle,” “shot,” “pull,” “scrape,” “pain,” “hurt”.
In our office we use age appropriate language tailored for each child, such as:
“count your teeth”
“take pictures of your teeth”
“clean your teeth”
“tickle your teeth”
“wash your teeth”
“clean up water with Mr. Thirsty”
